Josie spends the summer on the road

September has come round again and I'm looking back on the last two months and catching my breath after a seemingly non-stop tour of the country.
First I took Isaac to see Aunty Ruth in Colchester, which I thought was 'just outside of London'. How wrong I was, it took 7 hours to get there after I took an emergency last minute detour to avoid a traffic jam from hell on the M25. Phew! It would have taken a lot longer.
Then I went to Woking, where I had a great time watching Liz in a play in London with Georgie, but sadly Isaac developed a serious case of attachment fever and wouldn't let me out of his sight for the next two days, even at night, aaaaanightmare!
Next we escaped Preston for just over two weeks by managing to wangle a holiday in Cornwall combined with a trip to France to see my sister get married for the nth time. A very good excuse to get out of Blighty for the first time in 2 years and a really pleasant break. And the Cornish escapade was very chilledm beachified, lots of surf, sand, sun and yummy food (thanks to Chris and Zoe).
Where was I, then Preston for 5 days before Yorkshire and Norfolk for a night each to see N and G'dad-in-law. We don't go there enough and I always feel it's such a fleeting visit but they are getting on in years and wouldn't be able to handle us for any longer what with Winston and Isaac to contend with!
And finally, before August finally blew it's whistle on us and said, put on some proper clothes you fools, we drove up to Newcastle to spend a night with Nia and Rob, old friends who we don't see nearly enough. What happened to spending time with mates eh? It seems very few and far between these days?
And on to Scotland, the Isle of Mull to be precise and aaahh what a beautiful view in every direction. It felt fresh and clean and with so much space you could get lost in it. Making us think, why the hell do we live in a stinky city?
And before you know it we're back and it's September again, another summer gone and what do you know, they're selling Christmas shite in the shops already....
